Yoshon Preview - September 2012

Welcome to the first bits of Yoshon information for Canada, 2012. 

 

Due to the hot dry summer in Ontario and other economic factors such as little carryover of some products from last year, the closing of the wheat board, many changeover dates will be earlier than they have been in previous years.   Some current information:

 

Flour - (COR 285) including No Name-Regular  - Best Before code of 2013 AU 26 or earlier. Whole Wheat - BB code of 2013 FE 26 or earlier. Organic is still yoshon.

 

Flour - (COR 142) – will change last week of Sept. code of 2 266…7 or lower.

 

Great Plains, P&H, and Compliments (Metro) Brands Flour – If the number after PH in the code is ‘7’ a BB date of 2013 SE 23 or earlier. If it is ‘2’ will remain yoshon at least until the end of the month.1

 

All other Brand Name Flours- will remain yoshon at least until the end of the month.1

 

Quaker Oats (COR 112) - Any product that contains oats – will switch some time next week , date code of 09 17 P 2 or earlier.1

 

Robin Hood - Old Mill Oats - will remain yoshon at least until the end of the month.1

 

Cheerios (excluding MultiGrain) – still yoshon. We currently don’t have accurate information

for MultiGrain

 

Cereals bearing a COR 123-- will remain yoshon at least until the end of the month.1

 

Cereals bearing a COR 313-- will remain yoshon at least until the end of the month.1

 

Kellogg Canada (COR 246)  Muslix (all types) - best before date of 2013 AU 10 or earlier. Other cereals (without barley or oat flakes) are still yoshon

 

NuPak Barley - code of 2 233 or lower.

 

Pasta-- will remain yoshon at least until the end of the month.1

 

Local bakeries and pizza stores are still yoshon

 

1 These dates refer to manufactures changeover dates. There is an additional time delay until these products reach the consumer.
