Welcome to the first bits of Yoshon information for Canada for 2013.
Due to the elimination of the Canadian Wheat Board the transition to new crop will not as orderly as in previous years and some mills will be starting new crop earlier than in previous years.
Some current information:
Flour - (COR 285) including No Name – Still yoshon, projected changeover is the end of September1.
Flour - (COR 142) – Mill ‘7’ has changed; code of 3 253…7 or lower.
Great Plains, P&H, and Compliments (Metro) Brands Flour – If the number after PH in the code is ‘7’ a BB date of 2014 SE 10 or earlier. If it is ‘2’ projected new crop start is the week of September 29.1
Bakers Hood , Sunspun, Creative Bakers or any flour with COR 323 - Plant ‘SK’ has started new crop - date code of 13 252 or lower (2014 SE 09). ‘MT’ has started new crop - date code of 13 256 or lower (2014 SE 13)
Robin Hood Flour (retail) – plant code 548, code of 13 252 or lower.
Plant code 547 code of 13 256 or lower
All other Brand
Name Flours (incl. Five Roses) - will remain yoshon at least until the end of
Robin Hood - Old Mill Oats – are scheduled to remain yoshon until the end of September1
Cheerios (excluding MultiGrain) – still yoshon. We currently don’t have accurate information
Cereals bearing a COR 123 or COR 313 - will remain yoshon at least until the end of the month.1
NuPak Barley – is still yoshon.
Pasta-- will remain yoshon at least until the
end of the month.1
Local bakeries and pizza stores are still yoshon
1 These dates refer to manufactures changeover dates. There is an additional time delay until these products reach the consumer.
