The original October 5, 2011 CFIA alert was based on a third-party contract laboratory report that Salmonella was detected in a sample of the Strubs ready-to-eat Danish Style Smoked Grav-Lox Atlantic Salmon. Subsequently, the same laboratory reported that the Salmonella positive result was in fact a false positive, attributed to laboratory cross contamination. Therefore, the alert issued on October 5, 2011 is cancelled.
